Trading the Empty Cross for the Easter Bunny

“Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.” II Timothy 3:5

I never liked lies. Even when I was little I can remember there were very few times I told lies to my parents. I grew up and I still don't
like lies. Now that I'm adult I'm looking eagerly for the truth. I want to know the truth and I want to walk IN the truth. During my journey,
I've found many lies told by pastors, priests, teachers, and cultures. That really frustrated me. I also realized that sometimes we
keep doing the same things that others have been doing for years and years without asking ourselves if it is true. I did asked and it
is not true. It's not true that the Easter Bunny and Jesus Christ are in agreement at all! And if they are not in agreement, I join with
Jesus Christ, because darkness and light cannot walk together. I'm not talking about the cute rabbit, but the representation of the
Easter Bunny. That came out of pagan feasts and now it is inside the churches.

“Eastre (or "Ostara"), the Anglo-Saxon Teutonic goddess of spring and fertility was often accompanied by a hare. The fertile nature
of rabbits and hares is another symbol of new life and the rebirth that occurs during the spring season."Funk & Wagnalls® New

It's all right. This can be fun. As the Jews celebrate the Passover - Heb. pesach, "passing over" or "protection" – celebration of the
exodus of the Israelites from Egypt and their safe flight across the Red Sea, we, Christians run to Wal-Mart to get some “Ostara's
eggs”. By the way, the market has good reason to celebrate too. Easter candy sales were expected to top $1.885 billion last year.
Don't count on the Jewish people. In this season, they're having horseradish which signifies the bitterness of the experience, and a
mixture of chopped nuts and apples in wine symbolizing the mortar used by the Israelites in their forced labor, as we're licking our
fingers tasting pagan bunny chocolates.

So let all of us borrow some eggs from the pagan tradition and rejoice! As good Christians, we ought to celebrate the resurrection
of Christ even in a pagan/religious/deceitful way. And you know what? Forget the EMPTY CROSS. Nowadays, it's not enough in
itself.
