About a year ago, Steve and I retired to Venice, Florida. This
has been a dream of ours ever since we started vacationing here
several years ago. We love the beaches, the quaintness of the
area, the shopping and the sunshine. So after 35 years of
teaching, I took a permanent summer vacation.
The move seemed perfect except for one big question in our
lives: How would we grow spiritually? Would we resort to
watching TV? We were so tired of the mainstream churches. We
wanted more: More of the Holy Spirit in our lives, more meat to
the teachings, more of the presence and power of God, more,
more, more…There was a deep longing in us.
We found the place, HOT (House of Truth), and the people,

We heard truth preached there like we’ve never heard before,
experienced a new and fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit in our
lives with revelation and the word of God coming alive, and we
returned to our first love and passion: Jesus Christ. Steve and I
knew right away that we were home…in more ways than one.

Choosing to walk closer to Jesus is serious business. As I press into Him, He is
purifying me, showing me the condition of my heart and pruning me, calling me
to a higher level of holiness and responsibility in Him. I thought I was a woman
of faith. I thought I heard His voice. I thought I knew Him, but instead I learned
that I have a long way to go to stand strong in a storm. I have a long way to go to
react in love and compassion, forgiveness and humility. Create in me a clean
heart, O God…
Here’s the good news---He is just waiting for us to cry out, “I don’t want to be the
same anymore. I don’t want to feel the same, react the same, stay the same.
Change me, Lord!” I don’t want to resent anymore---or take offense---or have self-
pity and depression---or pride, envy, jealousy. I’m done with all that.
Easy to say? Yes. Easy to do? NO. Do you want the character of Christ worked in
you and through you? Do you want to follow Him down the narrow path? I do,
but I am so sad to see many falling away. Church, there is much deception and
love of the world in us, in me. But I am working on myself. Are you?
