Mother's Day 2017

Mothers and Daughters,

God is saying “DESTINY” today. “You are fearfully and wonderfully made. I knew exactly what I was doing when I created you! The way you are, Mother, the way you are, Daughter, is not a mistake. It is the way I created you. I put you together. I know what I am doing. Your whole life was written before you were even in the womb. You are precious in My sight, created for SUCH A TIME AS THIS.” He is saying, “Rise up and take your place on the earth. Know your destiny…The enemy will lie to you and try to tear you apart, but I mean for you to be together in the Spirit, one accord.”

" My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.  Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.  How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee. " Psalm 139: 15-18

He is speaking to mothers today, to natural mothers, spiritual mothers, and mothers of nations. Arise, Mothers…Destiny calls…children are waiting for you…Come forth, Sarahs of all ages. (Genesis 17: 16-17).

He is speaking to daughters today. We are all sons and daughters of the living God. We have Sonship. Arise, Daughters, Destiny awaits…take your place on the earth…The world is waiting for the manifestation of the sons and daughters of God (Romans 8: 19).

God is saying, “The womb is open.” Let the birthing and healing process begin…
He wants us to know, to really know, that we are walking under an open heaven of healing and grace right now, personally and in our relationships.

This mother-daughter relationship is under the curse, and the world has done it all wrong. I hear the Lord saying, “Stop trying to do it like the world.” He has a better plan for us. This relationship needs the way, the truth, and the life. A mother (and this is about spiritual mothers, too) has a womb. The womb brings forth life. The mother is a life giver. The Spirit of God has to breathe on the life in that womb for it to live. That is what we are missing—the Spirit of God to breathe on this relationship again. It’s time to move this relationship from the natural to the supernatural life of the Spirit.

My daughter recently visited me, and I was both excited and nervous. We have in the past both been hurt by this relationship, not willingly or on purpose, but because I don’t know how to do it right. I have been asking God to teach me how to do kingdom relationships. The book of Acts is here – it is here for the people of God to walk in and experience – and He is calling us all into righteous, kingdom relationships. Disciples!

What is a disciple? A disciple is one who is disciplined, trained in the Word of God, obedient, and following Jesus with the other disciples. We are not alone. We are in relationship with God and with each other. That means that there is a way, but it is not man’s way. Proverbs 14: 12 and 16: 25 say, “There is a way that seems right to a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” Our mother-daughter relationships have had enough hurt and death. It’s time to do it God’s way, the way of life. How to do it? I asked, “How do I do this?”

This is what He said: “You are her MOTHER, NOT her friend. BE HER MOTHER.” What? Wow. The world has it all wrong, all upside down from the kingdom of God. The world says be her friend, but you are her mother, no matter what the age. A mother can never stop being a mother. She is a mother. It is not in her nature to be anything else. She gave you life. Even a spiritual mother cannot be anything else. She cannot be your friend. She is here to give you life, the life of the Spirit. She is here for you until Christ is formed in you, and you are walking in the fullness of everything He has for you.

The other thing He said: “A mother is a bridge; a bridge between the daughter and the Father.” A mother’s job is always to bring you closer to the Father, both in the natural and in the Spirit. That is because she wants what is best for you, ALWAYS. How? By helping you find and fulfill your destiny in Him. She knows that the best life is Jesus. No other relationship, job, person, or place will ever bring you satisfaction or fulfillment.

A mother nurtures and feeds. We begin life by feeding their bodies from our bodies with milk. As they grow and are ready, we add food. That extends to spiritual milk and then as they are ready for spiritual meat (truth and mercy), we give it to them. We care for our children body, soul, and spirit. Our faith must feed their faith. Without faith it is impossible to please God. IMPOSSIBLE! Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith. OUR FAITH! Let faith arise…

Our job is to serve them. It is not about us. I think this is the biggest mistake mothers make. 2 Corinthians 12: 14-15 says, “for the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children. And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved.” My spiritual mother shared that scripture with me, and what an eye opener! Another thing upside from the world! I have often wondered what Mary “pondered in her heart (Luke 2: 19, 51).” I believe it was how to best serve her child, nurture His destiny, and follow Him.

The mother quality of Jesus is in the mother relationship, the nurturer. Jesus is both mother and father. Proverbs 31 is about mother and the Bride. “Who can find a virtuous woman? (wife, mother, the Bride of Christ) for her price is far above rubies.” [Virtuous: having the power, strength, valor, and might of the Lord.] She is PRICELESS! “Her children arise and call her blessed…Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the own works of her hands; and let her own works praise her…”

Let us fear the Lord…not each other. Proverbs 14: 36. “In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.” The best thing we can give our children is a healthy fear of the Lord because this is the beginning of wisdom and understanding (Proverbs 9: 10), confidence and protection.

Jesus Himself said, “Who are my mothers and daughters? Those who do the will of my Father” (Matthew 12: 50). We cannot stop being who we are – mother and disciple – in order to win the approval of our children. It is not possible for a leopard to change its spots so a mother will always be a mother. It is her calling. She will always be your biggest fan. She will always want the very best for you. As a disciple, she will always want God’s will for your life. She will always forgive you, love you, and tell you the truth. She would die for you and does so in many ways, but as long as you are doing God’s will, as long as all is well with your soul, she is okay. There is only one best life: His name is Jesus. No relationship on earth will ever satisfy – no job, no person, no place…

Many prayers go up to heaven for you. She is always before the Father for you. She never stops loving…What a calling motherhood is? To love, stand, encourage, exhort, nourish, all for love, all for destiny. Mothers want their children to be and do so much more than they could. Let our faith feed yours.

The principle of sowing and reaping applies to this relationship. Galatians 6: 7-8 says, “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.” If you sow criticism and condemnation into your child, that is what you will get back, but if you sow life, you will reap life. Death and life are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18: 21). Watch your tongue. Words do hurt. If you sow only into the flesh, it will not be lasting. The Spirit man lives on into eternity, and as I was reminded just last week, speak forth those things that are not as though they are over your daughter (Romans 4: 17). Prophesy life over her destiny! And yours!

Ecclesiastes 11: 1 says, “Cast thy bread upon the water: for thy shall find it after many days.” Sometimes a mother has to let go…to let you grow, find your way, and even to get you back. It is the hardest thing for her to do, but ONLY GOD…The prodigal did come back…Abraham’s seed was blessed. As the new children of promise, our seed is blessed! I hear the Lord say, “I know what I am doing and how to do it in your child’s life.” As I look at my beautiful daughter, I know this is true. He has done a very good job without me!

I hear this: “Tell them to love and obey their husbands.” What a lie of the world that has been given to women and to our daughters and even through us. This will never be said in the world, but the Word of God instructs, corrects, protects, and brings peace. There is joy in the marriage relationship only if we get this right. No marital counselor will ever tell you the truth. Stop fighting with your husband and your destiny and submit to the man that God has given you, and shut your mouth. The only reason you won’t and don’t is because you want your own way. This is not pleasing to God. Daughters, I am working on this, too, because I want a kingdom relationship. “Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands, as unto the Lord.” Ephesians 5: 22.

Titus 2: 3-5. 3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behavior as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; 4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

I hear the Spirit of the Lord saying, “Stop trying to be men. It is a high calling to be my women. It is not lesser. You are not a second class citizen, but YOU ARE MY WOMEN.” We have a God ordained role of support. – We have the same power, the same call to “do greater things,” but as women. What would any building be without a support structure? The world says that support is lesser. God says that the least of these is the greatest. Upside down! God wants us to start to enjoy and appreciate our own womanhood. There is so much to do in the kingdom of God, and time is short. Jesus is coming back soon.

We don’t like to see our children suffer, but why are many suffering? Where is the will of God? It is on the back burner. Many are suffering but not because they are sharing in the sufferings of Christ. The sufferings of Christ are persecution for our faith. We can rejoice in that! Our sufferings involve wanting our own will and not getting it – that is rebellion and sin, stubbornness and iniquity (1 Samuel 15: 23). When He says His burden is light, His yoke is easy, it is because we give up our will for His. His will leads to blessing, prosperity, and healing. How many more years do you want to go around that same mountain instead of removing it? Jesus is the mountain remover.

Please don’t look at us as the reason that you have turned away from Jesus. We have let you down. We have many flaws. We have made many mistakes. We have not been good examples. We sincerely ask your forgiveness for that. Don’t let anyone or anything keep you from Him. He loves you. He wants you. He is jealous for you to come back to Him and give Him another chance. HE has NEVER left you or forsaken you. He will never condemn you or turn you away. He wants and is the best for you. Forgive us for not knowing how to do this relationship with you better and for not knowing how to show you Jesus. We have not always known how to obey and understand the Word. This is my prayer: NEVER let me be the reason that you don’t follow Him.

Please don’t ever give up on your daughters, on their destiny, their calling. They are not here for you. They are not your personal trophy. You are here for them. They are here for Jesus just as are you. For those still raising daughters, remember that they are just children. They will make mistakes. They must learn, and you must teach them by the Spirit and the Word of God. It is the only way. Prophesy and speak life and the Word of God over them. Stand in the gap for them (Ezekiel 22: 30-31). You may be the only one praying and standing for your daughter. God hears our prayers! He is saying this: “Begin to apply the Word of God to this relationship, and watch Me turn it around.” Use wisdom and kindness, truth and mercy…Be wise as a serpent and gentle as a dove (Matthew 10: 16).

    Mothers and daughters,

Take your place on the earth together. God gave me a vision. I see rows of mothers and daughters in the Spirit, standing shoulder to shoulder, like a mighty army of women. They are taking their place side by side, no longer separated by hurt and lies, no longer tossed to and fro away from God and each other, but going forward together in their destinies in Christ, fulfilling all the plans that God has for them. Time to end this curse. Time to end the animosity. Time for a united front. Time to walk forward in our destinies. God says, “I want new beginnings for my Mothers and Daughters. They have much work to do together. Do you hear me? – TOGETHER, STANDING ARM TO ARM.” He has given us a future and a hope in Him. Let’s help each other find it.

    Let’s look to Jesus together.

What a glorious thing to serve the King!
Let’s look to the Word. It has all the answers.
Let’s look to the Holy Spirit. He will teach us ALL things together.
Let’s look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.
It’s the only way…
What a glorious day…

Cherish your mom.
Cherish your daughter.
Cherish your womanhood.
Cherish your birthright.
Cherish your destiny.

He calls us His beautiful women!
He calls us His beloved Bride.
He weeps for us and desires us.
He says the time for separation is over.
He says the time of weeping and travailing is over.

It is a new day for us! The past is over.
Let the healing begin,
Elaine Powers

My son (daughter), hear the instruction of the father, and forsake not the law of the mother. Proverbs 1: 8
